Principal's Welcome
A Warm Welcome From Our Principal

It is my privilege to have been appointed as Principal of this special College. I am honoured to share with you the heart of our community, where every boy is known, valued and deeply supported in his journey toward becoming a young man who is authentic, respectful and connected to a community that, like Jesus, serves and inspires others. Welcome to Mazenod College. I warmly invite you to explore our community and discover the many ways in which our young men come to learn who they are in the eyes of God.
At Mazenod College we aspire to be one of the best schools for Western Australia. Founded 60 years ago in the Oblate tradition and imbued with the charism of St Eugene de Mazenod, Mazenod College has a rich heritage as a Catholic day school and boarding school that specialises in boys’ education. We understand how boys learn and thrive, and we design tailored, challenging and supportive environments that foster courage, curiosity and character. We understand that boys need space, predictability and structure, encouragement and belief. They need positive role models and mentors who walk beside them, and a community in strong partnership with parents that sees their promise before they may realise it themselves.
The Oblate call ‘to go to the margins’ shapes our daily interactions and calls us to the margins, to bold compassion, to courage, to Christian service. We teach our boys not only to succeed, but to use their success for others because we believe success is measured not only by results, but most importantly, by who a young man is and who he becomes. We ask them to realise their potential, to respect the inherent dignity of every human person, and to nurture a character that advocates for justice, and is generous and faith‑filled. Leadership is encouraged and expressed in many forms, and every boy is challenged to lead in his own right and use his gifts for the good of others.
At Mazenod we have high expectations of our young men and provide an extensive range of opportunities through rigorous Academic programs, Sport, the Arts, Technologies, Mission and Christian Service. As a Catholic school in the Oblate tradition our boys are also blessed to regularly experience Mass, Liturgy and Prayer. We strive for excellence in education, and our holistic approach serves to develop the spiritual, intellectual, physical and emotional dimensions of every student in preparation to face the hopes and challenges of the future. Our curriculum and pedagogical approaches are designed to promote academic growth, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and we offer a wide range of programs and activities that cater to the diverse interests and talents of our students. Our rich Pastoral programs are contemporary and remain fluid to the development and wellbeing of young men in the everchanging landscape of the 21st century.
I welcome you to discover our community more fully through our website, our College Open Days, and of course, by visiting us in Lesmurdie.
Warm regards
