At Mazenod we believe that our students are blessed with gifts and talents and that we are called to develop them to be future-ready young men who will make a positive contribution to our world. Our Academic Extension and Specialist Programs are designed to challenge and extend their learning.
Specialist Band
Our Specialist Band program is a prestigious music scholarship program. It is offered to 35 to 40 dedicated and determined students who may not necessarily have previous music experience, but demonstrate a willingness to learn and a strong commitment to practise.

This two year scholarship program begins as a bursary in Year 8, followed by a full scholarship in Year 9. Students selected for this program will be provided with an instrument, group tuition and a structured music program with group performance opportunities.
Specialist

We also offer an Academic Extension program in Years 7, 8 and 9. The elective is intended to enrich student learning and pique their interest. The program supports the development of reasoning and problem-solving skills across core learning areas.
As part of the program, students work on their academic goals for the year through competitions, incursions, excursions and other opportunities. Students are offered a place based on their on-going academic performance.
