Making A Difference Together

Rosies is a non-profit organisation and a ministry of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate that offers support and companionship to those who are homeless, marginalised or going through tough times. Their aim is to provide friendship, acceptance and practical assistance to individuals who may feel isolated or neglected by society.

Rosies runs a range of outreach programs and services that work towards creating a more inclusive and caring community. On their website you can find information about their initiatives, ways to volunteer and opportunities to support their cause.

In 2023, for the second consecutive year, Mazenod WA will be organising an immersion program to experience Rosies in Queensland in December. The immersion dates are set from Tuesday, November 28, 2023, to Wednesday, December 6, 2023. This unique opportunity is exclusively offered to the current Year 11 students and is deeply rooted in the well-established tradition of our Oblate colleges in Australia.

The Oblates and their co-workers selflessly serve the people of southeastern Queensland through this remarkable outreach service, reaching out to individuals living on the streets and those on the fringes of society. Rosies' mission is to ensure that no Queenslander feels excluded or disconnected from their community. With a warm smile and a hot drink, Rosies aims to provide friendship and unconditional acceptance to those facing challenging circumstances. Some of Rosies' beneficiaries even consider the connection and conversation they receive to be as crucial as having safe accommodation and access to food.

Youth and student engagement have always been an integral part of Rosies' long-standing tradition. Originally established as an Oblate youth mission in Melbourne in 1975, Rosies continues to actively involve young people and students through educational initiatives, raising awareness and volunteer programs, which play a crucial role in prevention and support.

During our time in Queensland, Mazenod students will actively participate in supervised outreach services located in Southport, Burleigh Heads, Brisbane, Logan and Toowoomba. Throughout these outreach services, they will offer visitors a warm cuppa, food and engaging conversations in a hospitable and welcoming environment.
