Transition To Work
The Transition to Work (T2W) program is tailored to support students to finish their secondary learning and be equipped with the skills for the workplace.
The program is designed for students who are unlikely to meet the achievement requirements for a WACE (WA Certificate of Education) during Year 11 and 12. These students may have been on an Individual Education Plan or on a Curriculum Adjustment Plan in Year 10. However, WACE achievement is possible in this program if the student meets WACE requirements by achieving 14 “C” grades in Year 11 and 12, with six of those in Year 12.
The aim of this program is to provide extra support to students to enable them to experience success in their senior years as they prepare for work after Year 12. Should a student not achieve WACE, he will still receive a WASSA (Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement), which all students receive at the end of Year 12. |
- Program of Study
Students in this pathway will not study Mathematics. Instead of Mathematics, the students will engage in a Literacy for Life support program of four periods, a Numeracy for Life support program for four periods and an Academic Support program for two periods.
The Academic Support program will provide general academic support for the students to complete work from across their program of study. All students in the T2W Program will have Individual Transition Plans to guide their progress through senior school.
Students in this program will be enrolled in English Foundations which will be embedded within an English General class. This means that the students will engage in the lessons and learning of the English General curriculum and complete modified assessments that are assessed against the English Foundation curriculum. The remainder of the program of study will be negotiated with the student and family to meet his needs within the available curriculum.
